Sunday, 17 October. After breakfast, we packed up again. Ada offered to go with us to Patrick Henry Village (PHV) where we had lived while stationed in Heidelberg (1969-72). That looked pretty much the same, and Randy was able to pick out our old apartment right away. We then drove to Schwetzingen where our boys used to ride their bicycles to a public outdoor swimming pool. That was not recognizable anymore. It had grown to a large complex of indoor and outdoor pools, including therapy pools.

After dropping Ada off at her place, we drove along the Neckar River across from Heidelberg for a great view of the old city. [The view from the Philosophers Way (right) is my favorite from 1970.]

Then we headed back to Klein-Gerau and got to the Marenbach's at 1:00. We ate lunch there before heading for the world's largest book fair at the Messe complex in Frankfurt. It was truly impressive, filling every floor of several huge buildings. We stayed until 5 p.m. but only had time to see about 1/50th of the exhibits. We spent the evening visiting with Ernst and Gisella.
