Thursday, 7 October. We slept late, to 8:30, and awoke to another beautiful day. After a lazy morning visiting with Elfi, we left for her county place in the village of Zovenceto around noon. We had a big dinner at a trattoria there, with duck as the main course. We had not seen Elfi's little house for many years and were impressed at how nicely she had fixed it up and furnished it. We took a leisurely walk through the village. Elfi showed us Frank's grave in the little churchyard. (Frank Ditore, Elfi's late husband, was a civilian attorney in Darrell's office in Verona.)

We started back at 4:30 and drove by Palladio's best know villa, Villa Capra, better known as the Rotunda. We had visited it many years before with Roxy Marcucci, but nevertheless were surprised how well we could see it from the highway. We had a full view of three different sides as we passed.

We enjoyed a leisurely evening at Elfi's, talking and visiting. She served us a tasty supper of cheeses, ham, and rolls. Afterwards we started packing for our morning departure.
